Peter Salmon is an International Emmy and BAFTA-winning director and producer, known for his work across network, cable, and premium television. As a principal of independent production company Luminous Beast, he helmed the 2021 International Emmy-winning INSiDE and the acclaimed miniseries AFTER THE PARTY (TVNZ/ABC), praised by The Guardian for Robyn Malcolm’s “world-class” performance. His directing on AFTER THE PARTY earned him Best Director awards at the NZTVAs and the Asian Television Awards.

Recent work includes directing the final three episodes of MADAM (Tavake/Fifth Season) and setting up Stan’s WATCHING YOU, a psychological thriller based on J.P. Pomare’s The Last Guests for Lingo Pictures. Peter has directed numerous hit series in Australia and NZ, including DOCTOR DOCTOR (Nine), RAKE (ABC), HARROW (Hulu/ABC), HALIFAX: RETRIBUTION (Nine), MYSTIC (CBBC/Seven/TVNZ), and THE BEAUTIFUL LIE (ABC), starring Sarah Snook. His work on SECRETS AND LIES earned an Australian Directors Guild nomination, while NOWHERE BOYS and OFFSPRING became fan favourites.

Peter won a New Zealand TV Award for Best Director on Netflix/Seven’s WANTED and produced its third season. He began his career as a writer-director on BEING EVE and has directed iconic NZ series like OUTRAGEOUS FORTUNE, GO GIRLS, and AGENT ANNA. His Cannes Critics' Week short FOG and Clermont-Ferrand award-winning LETTERS ABOUT THE WEATHER showcase his talent in film. Peter also has extensive VFX and animation experience, directing the motion capture unit for Weta Workshop’s JANE AND THE DRAGON.
